TripAdvisor gets over 490M unique visits per month, yet many restaurants still don’t have their listings properly optimised. Or even worse, some have duplicate listings and don’t even know it!
Today I’m sharing a few ideas to help you improve your TripAdvisor SEO:
1. Length and quality
It’s all about the length and quality of the reviews you get, make sure your clients know that. “If you treat your clients right, they’ll do the marketing for you.”
Use TripAdvisor thank-you cards with a QR code to hand out to your clients. Keep your team involved.
2. High-quality images
Post fresh, high-quality images regularly. And add a descriptive caption for each dish or service, using relevant keywords and main products. Pin the photos that have performed best on your other social media channels. They’ve already proven to catch people’s attention.
3. Add keywords naturally
..in your reviews responses. You can use synonyms of the words that describe your product or service, or add a bit of extra context.
Try to reply within 24-48 hours when possible. Don’t make them too short, be kind and avoid copy-pasting from LLMs. You don’t need to sound overly agreeable either.
4. Use categories and tags
…wisely. Make sure you’re listed under the most relevant. Check which categories and tags your competitors are listed under, and see if you can add any others that may help you overtake them.
5. Be consistent
Across Google Business Profile and TripAdvisor content. It improves SEO signals for both. Make sure your description tells your unique story while captivating your audience. Identify your main selling point.
Keep your opening hours up to date, especially during the holiday season.
